This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What can you do with a bottle? Most of the students in my class would say "recycle it" - a great option - but I have found a really cool way to reuse them and teach science at the same time.

My students are mostly English language learners from a Title 1 school.

They are great kids who, unfortunately, lack many of the background experiences we take for granted. Fortunately, they are sweet, motivated, hard-working kids who LOVE science!

My Project

I have found a set of materials that will outline many science projects that can be done with plastic bottles. These materials will allow us to investigate, study, and build models of Earth systems. Building representative models is such an important concept, and one that really helps to bring science to life for my students!

With these materials, my students could each have a model pond on their desk to study and observe, and I would have the resources to do many, many other exciting things with my students.
