Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are low income and high poverty, but they don't let that stop them. A typical student is a first generation Hispanic English language learner and reads below grade level. All of the students at our school receive breakfast in the classroom and a free lunch in the cafeteria.

As a teacher, I am constantly on the lookout for opportunities to give experiences that will expose every student to the world outside of our rural community and create lasting memories.

As with many schools, we try to perform miracles on a shoestring budget.

My Project

This project will purchase seven Botley the Coding Robot & Action Challenge Accessory Packs. My students will learn the basics of computer coding. Working in small groups, they will apply collaborative learning skills to program Botley to perform a variety of different tasks.

As each group masters the process of coding Botley they will begin to introduce and teach other student groups.

Ultimately all students in our grade level will have the opportunity to work with Botley and tackle the challenges of coding.

My students need to learn skills that will expose them to technology of today and the future.
