This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been teaching for nearly 10 years. One of the things I love most about teaching is the opportunity to teach World Literature to such a diverse and thoughtful group of students. My students bring a wide range of cultures, experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds to our classroom, which makes our discussions richer and more meaningful.

Born a Crime is consistently a student favorite year after year.

Noah’s experiences give students an engaging way to explore identity, culture, race, family, belonging, and resilience while seeing how literature can connect to the world around them.

I love seeing students discover themselves and the world through literature. Giving every student their own copy of Born a Crime would allow them to fully engage with a book that has proven, year after year, to be a hit with my students.
