Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with students who are very eager to learn and be better scholars. Most of them are English Language Learners and communicating is sometimes a barrier. We work through this obstacle daily and we have developed deeper relationships because the desire to help and be helped is mutual. My students do their very best to communicate their needs and desires in the classroom and gain understanding no matter the situation. They are very excited and driven to learn and that makes me more driven to become a better educator. My goal is to continually better myself so that I can pour into my students!
Our school administration and staff work toward developing a family culture across our campus rather than the traditional school culture.
Our students live in high crime, high poverty, low-income areas and come to us with very low academic scores; nevertheless, with a great passion to be better scholars and the will to work hard. They desire their intellectual enrichment to be valued and the students understand the importance of education. Each day is a journey to becoming a better person to make a more informed decision in life so that their worlds are changed.
My Project
This Professional development will be used to enrich lessons that require hands-on manipulative that cannot be purchased. Students will be able to use the device to create project material for classroom presentations. The device will serve as a technology tool to assist with expressing themselves academically without losing personality. The goal is to make the students want to produce quality presentations that they can be proud of but also have the need content. By expanding my knowledge of the tool I will be able to develop a plan to assist students in achieving the desired outcome for a project for school or even personally.
