Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach ninth grade science to 14 year olds who come from different backgrounds. As a low-income, urban, neighborhood school my students arrive with a diverse set of backgrounds. A successful Freshman year is the strongest predictor of future success and my goal is to help my students successfully navigate ninth grade earth and space science.
What makes my students so amazing is that they ask great scientific questions about the world around them!
My Project
Are you tired of staring at screens? My students are too! I am requesting a laser printer for my classroom so that I can print work for students during class as needed.
While technology offers amazing benefits to education, some students still learn best with printed hard copies.
My classroom stresses the importance of science literacy and we read scientific articles in class. Some students request a screen break or say that they like to annotate their work as they read it. A laser printer will enable me to modify ways students can access their work.
