Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a class of 25 amazing little kindergarteners, T-Kers, and first graders who have the world in their grasps. They all love learning and we do the best we can with the little we have. A lot of kiddos have never been in a classroom before. Covid closed down preschools, daycares and schools in our area.

I am a first year teacher and I have my sights and goals to make learning fun for them since they missed out on so much already.

I am a strong believer in personalized learning which is catered to each individual child. The school site I work at is small but this allows students to become familiar with each other in the school system. The students in the classroom come from various backgrounds in which some live with family members other than their mom and dad, some are considered homeless, some can barely afford basic needs of survival but most students are well cared for and provided food and shelter. I want my students to love to come to school, so we do lots of hands on activities, crafts, and movement learning!

My Project

These materials will make a huge impact on my students by letting them learn and play through social interaction and sensory details. I plan to use this light table as a center in classroom. I will create different learning style games that students can complete either on their own or with help from classmates. My goal is to boost mental health and make learning fun and enjoyable for all the students in my classroom. This is part 2 of a 2 part series. Part 1 I hope to get a sand and water table so students have a variety of learning tools at their fingertips.
