My Students

My students are happy, enthusiastic, and eager to learn kindergarteners. Our rural school is a second home to many children and their classmates and teachers are like family.

Our school serves all students a free breakfast and a free lunch and we are very proud of our expertly run food pantry that allows students to bring healthy meals home for the weekend and for school breaks.

As a literacy interventionist, I work with those students that need extra support with both reading and writing. They are the children most in need of highly engaging and enticing materials.

My Project

My project is designed to help form a connection between school and home with books that my kindergarten students can learn and practice at school and then take home and share with their families.

The magic of a real storybook that a beginning reader is able to hold and read independently cannot be measured.

Early success leads to the desire and motivation to seek out more books and reading opportunities.

Sharing high quality, interesting books such as Hug and Chicka Chicka ABC and the reading experience with family members will foster the desire to repeat these special moments. Beginning readers need predictable, easy storybooks to feel this success!
