I serve the best class of preschoolers with Autism that you could ever meet. They love to giggle, to play, and to see their friends -- even if it's on Zoom! My students thrive on routine, structure, and visual supports. They need to know what will happen each day, and how it will happen. Instead, we are learning from home, doing our best to replicate the structure they love through daily virtual circle time, materials delivered to families virtually, and office hours to support each family's needs.
My Project
We are using a variety of visual supports to ensure my preschoolers can engage in meaningful learning over the next 2 months, and potentially into the summer or Fall. Teachers Pay Teachers allows me to purchase preschool-friendly BOOM Cards to practice communication, social skills, and early academics. BOOM Cards are interactive cards that can be used on any digital platform. We have used them to sort colors, to match pictures, to create Mr. Potato Heads, and play board games.
The best part is that my students LOVE BOOM Cards!
They look forward to our circle time activities, where they can take turns to engage with the content and show their skills. I am able to send links to families that they can use at any time that is convenient for them on any device that they have.
