My Project

My students are creative, curious learners who thrive when they have opportunities to make reading meaningful and hands-on. While reading *Holes*, students will complete a Bookstagram project that asks them to step into the shoes of a character and think deeply about that character’s personality, interests, passions, and experiences. My goal is to strengthen students’ inferencing and reading comprehension skills while giving them an exciting way to demonstrate their understanding of the novel.

**These disposable cameras will allow my students to bring their characters to life beyond the pages of the book.** Students will use clues and evidence from *Holes* to decide what types of photographs their chosen character might take if they had their own social media account.

They will capture pictures that represent the character’s interests, personality, relationships, and experiences and then explain how each photograph connects to evidence from the text.

My students are special because they bring their own creativity, ideas, and perspectives to everything we read. This project gives them the opportunity to show that there is more than one way to demonstrate understanding while still requiring them to think critically and support their ideas with evidence. These cameras will transform a reading assignment into an experience that encourages imagination, collaboration, and a deeper connection to literature.
