My Students

I have a creative, sweet and active group of five and six year old students that love to learn. They come in ready to write, read and have fun every morning. They impact my life by motivating me and challenging me to always become a better version of myself. We strive to be the best that we can be.

My students have worked really hard this year in becoming independent readers, writers, scientists and mathematicians.

They have individual book boxes in which they choose books that are just right for them. They "shop" for books often and constantly want to get independent reading time to increase their stamina.

My Project

We need two Bestar Pro-Linea, Two-Shelf Bookcases from Staples for our classroom library because we are currently using inadequate storage for the students' independent reading books. Our school is adopting a new Literacy Reading program. One of the main components is their classroom library that will be classified by different genres, reading levels and a diverse selection of classroom books.

I want my students to be successful and have the best materials to enrich their first year in public school.

Many of my students did not go to preschool or an early childhood setting, so my goal is to give them ample opportunities to be independent readers. Some of my students are ESL learners and could benefit from accessing to child-size bookshelves and reading materials in them.

One of the most important things about the program that our school is adopting states: "Readers need opportunities to read high-interest, accessible books of their own choosing. Students need access to lots of books that they can read with high levels of accuracy, fluency and comprehension."

Having our classroom library set up with safe and secure bookshelves will definitely impact the quality of learning and also motivate students to read. Thank you ahead of time for investing in our children's educational future.
