Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 19 high energy first grade students. They are all kind, caring, and intelligent students that are all ready to grow and learn. My student are from a low socioeconomic background and 100% receive free lunch and breakfast.

In my classroom, I strive to help my students awaken their love of reading and books.

I believe that if a child can read, then they can do anything. Reading is the foundation that all of the other subjects are built upon.

My Project

Our first grade classroom has some great books to read, but zero bookshelves to help store them. Our classroom library is currently being housed in four small cubbies, and it is hard for students to see what books are available for them to read.

These bookshelves will allow my first grade students to browse all of the books in our classroom library with ease, and none of the frustration that they encounter now.

These shelves will make the books we have in our classroom look like an actually library, instead of a stash of books.
