Mr. Levinson from Trenton NJ is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need these books to help me develop and improve the architectural design portion of my AED courses as they will guide me through teaching students how to design homes through the exercises and information.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are Architecture and Engineering Design students who have chosen to be a part of this CTE course. These bright and curious juniors and seniors come to my school for half a school day, while the other half of their day is spent at their home district.
In our evolving world when young people are being encouraged to be innovators, my students are excited to gain and practice the skills they need to make a meaningful impact when they leave high school.
Especially as upperclassmen in high school, these students are either settling into their identity as global citizens or struggling to figure out who they are. For this reason, our classroom community is always eager to use technology to approach meaningful problems that develop their teamwork skills and content skills that will prepare them for life outside of school.
These books will enable me as a teacher to develop the architectural design capabilities of my high school architecture students. Since this is my first year teaching the Architecture and Engineering Design course, I have a lot to learn and a lot to do in terms of improving and rebuilding the course. These books will help me with teaching two kinds of architectural design skills. First is architectural sketching, which many students do not realize is still an essential skill of an architect in this age of computers. Second is architectural modeling on the CAD program Revit, which is used my many architectural firms today.
With these books, I will be able to bring out the best of my architecture students so that I can teach skills that are relevant and necessary for architects, and so that I can inspire my students to achieve their goals of becoming architects.
