Books, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and More!

Help me give my students more options for good books, vocabulary, and opportunities for gaining a deeper comprehension.

This project expired on May 18, 2022.

My Students

I work at an amazing Title I elementary school with amazing students. I have noticed COVID-19 has greatly impacted our school in many ways. When we went to remote learning, I feel like I lost most of my students due to the lack of help, supplies, and resources at home. As a result, students are more behind than ever; thus, making it very hard to catch students up. My goal is to gather more supplies/resources that will help aid students in their learning.

My Project

I choose resources that will help my students get engaged in good books that are exciting and interesting! I want to help students work on gaining a better understanding of reading strategies, especially comprehension and vocabulary. With the craziness of COVID-19, students are coming in lower and lower because of the many "holes" they are missing. I want students to have a fun experience with reading, comprehension, and vocabulary by enjoying new books that are engaging. I am thrilled for this opportunity to gain books students love and want to get into.

I also selected an iPad Pro case with a keyboard.

My amazing principal used technology funds to buy the upper grades in our school iPad pros. I couldn't be more excited to learn and utilize this in my classroom. I would love to have the keyboard case to make it easier and faster to use. I want to use this in small groups to use digital resources that we have access to. Currently, we are progress monitoring with Acadience. I also have many digital resources that I have downloaded for phonics, vocabulary, word work and so on, that would be easy to use in small group/guided reading time.

The last item I selected was seat pockets for student chairs. I have been in fourth grade for 4 years now and I have been trying to accumulate new books for my classroom. I want students to have a safe place to keep these books that will allow them to find them quickly and keep them in good condition. Students tend to have messy desks that they simply shove all their books and supplies in, I want to have a separate place to keep these new books to help students stay organized.
