My students are eager to learn and eager to please! They are kind and considerate of their fellow classmates, and strive to do their best work. I have one pre-k class as well as five kindergarten classes. My students love books, visiting the school library, and hearing new stories, and are very inquisitive about the world around them. They are quick to make connections from books we read in library to events in their own lives, and often offer great insight.
My Project
I have several students in kindergarten this year who are struggling to find a visit to the library interesting to them, as standard picture books are too difficult or just not engaging them.
Having pop-up books and books with sound would appeal to them and help them to become excited about their library classes and to enjoy their weekly visits.
I have selected materials that will help them to learn numbers, letters, colors and other basic information as well as classic picture books that have a sound or pop-up feature added to them in hopes that these materials will spark a love of books and the library. These materials would also be useful for several English as a second language students new to our school.
