My Students

My students come from neighborhoods all over the city of Seattle to be a part of the highly capable program at our elementary school. I have a mix of students who are new to our school as well as veterans of our school. My students are bright, curious, critical thinkers, and care about their community.

Some of my students have had a difficult transition back to in-person school, but we are all settling in well to our new normal.

My students care about each other and have worked hard at getting along this year. They love being back in the classroom to learn and socialize.

My Project

Our classroom library is in need of diversifying as well as providing text that is at the appropriate reading level for our students. The best way for student's reading level to improve is for them to read books at their level. Our library is in need of more books that will make sure this happens this school year. During independent reading time, we will engage in diverse text to improve reading comprehension while having one-on-one conferences with the teacher. These books will allow students to choose books that are appropriate for them and will push them to the next reading level!
