My Project

I will going into my second year of teaching next year. I have been assigned to teach a new English course that is focused on confronting racial social and political structures. These books will be central to our curriculum and conversations we will be having. Students will be reading excerpts from these texts, however, it is vital that I understand the context of what they are reading. As their guide and support, I want to be prepared to be there for all my students and to make sure that we are having healthy and supportive conversations. We are going to tackling challenging topics and so it is important that I understand the historical and cultural context of the subjects and of my students.
