My students and I are currently in the midst of distance learning. We are separated by sickness, uncertainty and space; at the same time, we are united by our love, our history together and our dedication to learning. In many ways distance learning has been a struggle for my students; they are dealing with confined learning spaces, uncertain living environments and inequitable access to technology.
We are living through history.
My students are incredible people. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
My Project
My students and I have been in distance learning for about 6 weeks. This has been difficult for all of us. We miss each other and our routines and the enrichment I am able to provide in our school setting. As a part of our new routine, I am hosting a daily Morning Meeting with my students, which includes our daily read aloud, games and art activities. My students thrive on this daily interaction and our daily read aloud. These picture books will give my students an outlet for their imaginations, feelings and satisfy our need for normalcy.
"A book is a dream you hold in your hands" Neil Gaiman.
Please help my students hold more dreams in their hands, or, at least, to be able to hear them through the computer.
