I am seeking funding to continue to grow my classroom library. The reason I am always searching for new books is that my students are always searching for what to read next. Often times students are inspired by peers, teachers, and their own interest when it comes to selecting books for independent learning time. I want to make sure that there is something for everyone in our classroom library!
When a student asks me to expand our classroom library to include more books, I know I have to do everything I can to make it happen for them!
Today a student said to me, I really want you to have Dog Man books because they make me happy and remind me of when I was younger. Hearing the comfort he felt from that book made my heart warm, I knew I had to reach out and ask for some help to make it happen.
My goal for students is to have them leave the 6th grade having read a book that they loved, connected to, or would highly recommend to friends or family. I am so proud of the growth some of them have shown in reading this year and as they grow, I need to keep up with their reading needs by expanding our classroom library. My students are such great kids and I really love the way that reading has brought my classes together this year and allowed for such a great sense of community.
