My Students

I teach English to an amazing group of students from a variety of different backgrounds, and abilities. In this class, we are a family. We learn from each other, grow with each other, and strive to be better people every day. We use books to learn about our communities and tie them to things we can relate to through service projects. I guide them through learning by fostering a love of reading and teaching them a sense of belonging.

My Project

This year feels like a constant struggle, but one thing that is going well in my classes is literature circles. In this project I have some new titles I would like to add to my classroom library, as well as some supplies we have been adding to a list of things we need over the last few weeks. My students LOVE flair pens, and they keep borrowing mine, never to return them, so I thought getting a set to keep in class for them to use might be a fin idea. They love using colorful pens as well as highlighters when annotating text, or editing work done by their classmates. We go through a ton of laminating sheets trying to preserve some activities to last for the coming years, and we go through so many disposable masks in a day we are constantly in need of them.
