This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income school where my students are faced with challenges most students do not have to deal with. Despite what's going on around them they are very eager to learn and are always giving one hundred percent in all that they do.
I would like to equip my classroom with the tools needed to help my students succeed and be the best they can be in everything they do.
I want each of them to know that school can be a fun place to learn and that there are people who care about them and their education.
My Project
I would love to add just a few more books to our classroom library. My students participate in a program called Accelerated Reading where they have to read books on their reading level and take tests on these books. If we have enough books in our classroom library my students wouldn't have to leave the classroom to check out books as often in the school library.
My goal is to have enough books that are of interest to my students so that reading will be more enjoyable.
If my students have books they are interested in they may want to do more reading which will help with Accelerated Reading as well as reading scores on weekly tests.
