Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember going to the library for the first time? Do you remember the feeling of picking that perfect book off the shelf and being excited to read it right away? With your help, my students will get to experience that feeling.
My students are kindergartners in a large urban city.
They have difficult home lives and most receive free lunch and breakfast. Most of my students don't even have library cards and have never been to the public library! All of my students have the ability and desire to learn; they just need the resources.
My Project
Recently the generous donators from DonorsChoose purchased a beautiful leveled library for my students. They are anxious to use it; however, we don't have any place in the classroom to put the books. With book bins and a mobile library cart, we will have the space and organization that my students will need to access books at their reading level.
This project is imperative to our classroom routines.
Organization is vital to a successful and happy classroom. These book bins and the mobile library cart will provide the organization that my students will benefit from. They will have the opportunity to feel as though they are at a real library by picking a book of their choice off the shelves.
