Our busy room is full of 21 eager readers! Over the years I have gathered hundreds of books to help students explore their world and the students love diving into them with partners and in whole group discussions. My hope is to continue collecting books and engaging students in learning more beyond where we live. I also want these books to be accessible to all students at all times, because a reader never stops:).
I have students that love learning new words, can get lost in a book for an hour, and use books as a way to fulfill burning curiosities.
Our reading curriculum demands text complexity and questions with depth, and my students are up for the challenge!!
Due to our ever growing thirst for knowledge, we need a text-rich environment where reading is not only encouraged, but also the foundation for building these budding explorers, scientists, artists, engineers, storytellers, and activists!
My Project
My students and I can't get our hands on enough books! We are always reading and discussing our character's latest adventure, or the newest discovery we made about our current science topic! It's been a passion of mine to gather, research, and build an amazing classroom library for my students to help them reach new understandings about their world!
We now need some help making this incredible classroom library travel with us (literally) as we move from room to room!
We have a unique opportunity to move classrooms multiple times in a year which is a beautiful lesson in adapting! Our books don't always get unpacked with all that moving and we would love to keep them accessible all year with a creative mobile book storage solution! We will use our books for independent reading, small group discussions, book clubs, and as part of our science and reading lessons! We would love your help in keeping our classroom love of reading alive, growing, and available!
