My Students

Can you remember your favorite story from childhood? I want to give my students memorable reading experiences to help them develop a love of books.

My students are a bright, curious bunch of five and six year old learners.

They attend a charter school in Louisiana that has over 90% of students on free or reduced lunch. They are thirsty for knowledge and are very independent. They need materials that will help them feel successful and build their academic confidence.

My Project

These books and compact discs will start my students on the road to reading. My students need classic children stories on CD to use in our listening center. With the help of these materials, the children will get to practice tracking words, while being exposed to some of the greatest stories ever written! This will help them feel comfortable when they start reading books on their own.

This projects is important because it will help to develop a love of stories and imagination in young children.

Exposure to high quality literature can make the difference between an average student and a life long learner.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
