Books on CD for Low Readers

My students need 4 copies of 11 audio book titles, mostly focusing on individual phonics skills, and three color-coded baskets to allow each reader to select an audiobook at his or her reading ability.

I teach third grade in a low-socioeconomic school. Over 80% of the students at our school qualify for free and/or reduced lunch. We have been on the Schools in Need of Assistance list in reading for four years. In my upcoming class, 4 out of 19 students are identified as needing special education services.

I have a large group of low readers in my upcoming class. Finding ways to excite them about reading has become quite difficult. My hope is to provide them some read-along books to not only excite them about reading, but also allow them to read along with the phonics books to improve the skills they have. During independent center time each day, students are given different opportunities to practice reading fluently. In the audio book center, students will not only be given a model on how fluent readers sound, but they will then be able to read along with the speaker to enhance their own abilities. There will be color-coded baskets so each reader will know which books will allow them to practice the skills at their just right reading level. These phonics read along titles will allow lower readers to experience this center with books that are not too difficult for them.

I need low-level phonics read along books that can align with the new skills they are going to be learning. My goal is to show these low readers that the skills they learn can help them enjoy books of all kinds, including those on Cd's.
