My Students
I've completed my first year of teaching and have learned so much by building relationships with my students. One way that I connected with my students is by reading. They love shared reading time especially when they can make a real-life connection with the book that we are reading. So this school year I want to focus on our classroom library because my current library lacks books that are interesting to my students. The books that I have came from the previous teacher, and my students just aren’t interested in those books. Some of the books are in poor conditions, and I think my students will benefit from an updated classroom library.
Reading brings so much pleasure to me!
Therefore I wish to build a dynamic library that reflects my students' interests. I want my students to see that reading is fun. They just need to find that one good book that keeps them coming back.
My Project
My classroom library currently doesn’t reflect the students that I have. I spent my first year teaching my students and building relationships with them. Now that I know my students' interests I want to be able to provide them with a classroom library that reflects them. Some books are outdated and others are in poor condition. The books that I have selected will help me build a dynamic library that reflects my students' interests. My students will now have multiple choices of books that they enjoy reading. With these books, I expect to transform their attitudes about reading from being a chore to being something they eagerly anticipate and will affect them for life.
