This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 10th graders are a diverse group: academically, socially, and economically. Like most teens, they share a common love for their phones. We need books with current and engaging topics; to capture their attention and keep them interested in reading books, instead of reading their phone screens.

I am requesting 35 copies of the book, Patron Saints of Nothing.

This book is a National Book Award finalist and addresses topics of family, faith, and identity. Students will gain valuable reading, writing, and critical thinking skills as they tackle these universal topics.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
