My Students
My students live in an area heavily affected by Hurricane Harvey and attend a Title I school where more than 95% of students receive free or reduced lunch. My students will enter my transitional bilingual classroom where they will receive all English instruction for the first time.
The students in this area are resilient and have shown that nothing can stop them from achieving their goals.
Despite all these challenges, they always try their best and have a positive attitude.
My Project
My students do not have access to a variety of books in their homes. Luckily I have purchased and inherited many books for my classroom library. Unfortunately, I do not have enough bookshelves to house them all.
With the book organizer and bins the students will have easier access to a variety of books.
When they have access to a variety of books students are more likely to read and therefore succeed in their learning. It also exposes them to other worlds outside of their community.
My hope is that with the availability of books conveniently organized the students will become life long readers.
