This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright and eager to learn. Most come from economically disadvantaged households. However, most lack books in their homes, and our public library is small and underfunded, so my students do not have access to high-quality books. Our reading curriculum includes no books, just image cards that I read to.

Reading aloud to children is crucial for their development, offering significant benefits across language, literacy, and emotional growth.

It helps build language skills, expands vocabulary, fosters a love of reading, and strengthens family bonds. Additionally, it can improve cognitive skills, enhance critical thinking, and promote social-emotional development.
