My Students

Each year, I teach about 220 students. It's a lot! But I love teaching them. So often I find myself amazed by their willingness to learn, but only when the content considers them, their interests, and their hobbies. And this same mentality is applied easily to my students when reading.

I've never been so impressed as when the students that I teach recommend their books to others.

As an English teacher, it is one of the greatest moments, and at my school, it happens often: students sharing in their learning, what they are reading, and continually striving to read and learn more.

My Project

As an English teacher, encouraging students to read mostly involves helping them find books that they enjoy. Because many students don't have regular exposure to books, having them in the classroom is extremely beneficial. Studies show that in order for students to engage in their reading, they need to be surrounded by books at school.

Reading good books bolsters a student's ability to learn and grow.

And so, having more books in my classroom will benefit them, not only while they are in school, but for many years after. Furthermore, students will grow in their literacy skills, helping them read better, think critically, and build empathy.
