Help me give my students these Mercer Mayer, Jon Klassen's Hat Box, Flubby, and other books to motivate my struggling readers and provide topics that their peers are reading, but targeted toward their reading level.

My Project

I have been writing DonorsChoose projects for books because my students didn't have any that were interesting. As I was placing them in my book bins I noticed that I had very few books that my struggling readers can read. The Poky Little Puppy, Flubby, Mercer Mayer and other books will help build reading fluency, vocabulary, background knowledge and interest in reading for my struggling readers.

The books are high/low interest books which will support my struggling readers.

Pumpkin Trouble, Peacocks, Pigs Make Me Sneeze, We Love You Rosie, and the other books in this project, include illustrations to support the text. These books were carefully chosen because of their vocabulary, simple sentences, compelling stories, and characters that will interest my students.

These books will motivate my struggling readers by providing books on topics that their peers are reading, but targeted toward their reading. Right now my struggling students want to read what my other second grade students are reading. They try to read these books but they struggle with each word and don't comprehend what they are reading. These books will provide a love of reading for my reluctant readers.
