This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember falling in love with a book character or a reading series? My lower students need a character and series to fall in love with. The Henry and Mudge books are accessible by all of my students and tells the story of a boy and his dog.

My students are low-income, high need students from diverse backgrounds.

They speak over 8 different home languages. Learning to read in English is challenging. Although school is difficult for them, they love coming to school to learn new things.

My Project

I'm asking for a set of Henry and Mudge books. These books are about a boy and his dog and the adventures they have together. Not only are they easy enough for my lower readers to read during independent reading time, but they tell a story that appeals to boys and girls alike.

This project is important because it places books in the hands of children.

Our students don't have the opportunities for adventure that Henry has in the books. Allowing them to read about and fall in love with this boy and his dog will open up a whole new world for them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
