Books for New Readers

Help me give my students books to read! I work with students who are just learning to read and I would love to be able to give them books they are able to read.

My Students

My students are very unique. We are the lucky recipients of many refugee families in our community. This also makes teaching very difficult because they often don't speak English. However, they are some of the most kind hearted kids I have ever met. They are always willing to try their best even though it often falls short.

Our school is at about 90-95% poverty.

These children don't have what others often take for granted. They deserve the best education there is out there and I try to provide them with that. I hope that by adding these items to our classroom that they will go home with a love of learning and come back the next day begging for more.

My Project

I work with students who are just learning to read and I would love to give them books they can read. I hope by giving them books they will learn to love reading. With virtual learning happening I think it's important that they have the opportunity to read at home. Many of them don't have books at home, or at least books on their level. This project will give them that opportunity. I think this will help them use the things we're learning at school when they're at home, which is so important.
