My students need books for PE class as they are a great way to provide students with necessary background knowledge, peak their interest and introduce character development in PE class.

My Students

My students are smart, passionate and curious learners. Our diverse population includes students from a number of different countries, representing over thirty different spoken languages.

As the saying goes, "if the bum is numb, the brain is the same." We need to get our children learning while moving!

Exercise positively impacts mood and brain chemistry by releasing serotonin and reducing the stress hormone cortisol. Physical activity directly and positively influences student academic performance and health.

As a physical educator, I strive to provide students with a safe, fun and engaging environment in which to learn. All of my students in K-5 enjoy participating in new, challenging and fun PE classes, designed to improve skill performance and fitness.

My Project

At our school, we love to read.

This project will fund a variety of new and exciting books specific to learning in physical education class.

These books will be used as read alouds for classes to provide necessary background information, to peak student interest and to introduce positive character traits into PE class.

The requested books include texts that reflect our diverse population. I carefully selected books in English and Spanish, books that include sports of cultures across the world, as well as book characters of different genders, races and cultures.

This project will help students understand the importance of healthy habits, maintaining a positive attitude, having a good character and actively learning about cultures different than their own.
