Help me give my students books for literature circles/ book clubs for small group reading.

My Students

My students come from lower-middle-class suburban neighborhoods. They are smart, motivated, and well-behaved people.

These kids shock me with their critical thinking and analytical skills.

All students would be readers if only they had easy access to new, high-interest books.

My Project

These sets of books will give students in my classes an opportunity to participate in literature circles. In small groups, students will each read their book, then come together for meaningful discussion about the books characters, plots, messages, themes, and writing styles.

Literature circles gives students more opportunity to find books that interest them since all kids are readers--they just need to find the right book.

This also gives students a chance to interact with their peers which has been in short supply lately. Students get to visit other book clubs to learn about other books.
