My Students

In our low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students love to read and I want to foster that to diversify the STEM learning environment so that they know any career field is possible for them.

I would like to expose them to the diverse field of science and scientists through books, games, and arts. I would like to create a resource library of books to expose them to the STEM field. Most of our parents do not have time to take their kids to the library due to various reasons. I hope I can provide an opportunity for my students to think about all the possibilities of a STEM career regardless of their background thanks to DonorsChoose.org!

My Project

Third grade is a special grade to teach. I am lucky to be working with an amazing group of students. My students are often curious and enthusiastic about learning, which is a very good thing to see as a teacher. They tend to ask questions that lead to their curiosity. A need that my students always need are stories that involve topics they learn in the class. I teach at a Title I elementary school in Oakland, and it's hard to get books for my students because there is a lack of funds.
