My Students

Our school has a diverse student body. We have students from all economic circumstances, many of whom are English language learners. We are in an urban environment located on the coast. Students at our school need rich learning opportunities, facilitated by knowledgeable teachers.

Due to the various backgrounds of our student body, we are in need of materials and tools to narrow the experiential gap of our students, especially tools which strengthen language development.

Our school is an important part of our local community and strengthening our community connection is a priority.

My Project

These books will be used in a partnership with community members, as we work to both build our reading identities and to connect ourselves to our planet, earth.

Water connect us, as do books.

We are studying water, climate & weather in our remote multigrade classroom. We will be reviewing these books, and sharing our thoughts with professionals in our community in an effort to connect. The students in this class have been remote since March of 2020. Connection matters. The books will be building our knowledge base and strengthening our social emotional health.
