Books are inspirational. They build interest not only in reading, but they build the love for learning. This was the case for me growing up and I want to emulate what my teachers did for me for my students.
I have 24 wonderful and active kindergarteners.
I teach a whole day kinder class and my students are 4, 5, and 6 years old varying in educational background from no preschool experience to transitional kindergarten. They love to learn and are curious about everything and anything! Our school is located within a large urban school district in California.
My Project
I have a wide range of readers. Some are learning to blend sounds to read simple words, some are reading simple sentences, and some are reading above grade level. Our new language arts curriculum has intervention and grade level books, but none for advanced readers. This project will provide books that will meet the needs of my students at their reading level. I hope to use them during small group center time to work on their fluency and comprehension. We also need book bins to store our precious books in.
Help my students be successful and enthusiastic readers!
These leveled reading series will challenge my advance readers as I provide differentiated instruction during small group instructional block.
