My students need big books that focus on math skills as well as reading skills.

My Students

I am a new teacher in a rural school who is instructing eager 1st graders how to read and write. I lack the materials I need to successfully provide my students with an excellent education.

My students are 24 energetic first graders who attend a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Magnet Title I elementary school in South Carolina.

In order to prepare our students for the rigorous standards in education, it is integral that they have the right materials to assist in their learning. Creating a fun and interactive learning environment helps to keep my students engaged and energized to learn. I try to make learning interesting by having a variety of learning materials available to them. Having hands-on materials helps students of all learning styles stay engaged and allows for a deeper level of understanding.

My Project

The use of these books will be integrated throughout the day during math, science, social studies, and language arts. Students will also be able to use these books during their literacy station time. During their station time students can work with a partner where they will continue to work on developing print awareness, vocabulary development and left to right progression.

Your donation will allow my students to become lifelong readers and learners by being exposed and utilizing a variety of big books.

These books will not only improve reading skills but also support instruction in math, science, and social studies.
