Books For Fifth Grade Scholars
My students need twenty copies of "Hatchet" for our classroom.
Let's open a good book and lose ourselves in a story of triumph over tragedy.
I teach thirty-five, fifth grade Excel students in a California public school.
My students come from less affluent backgrounds and down right difficult circumstances. Despite their troubles, these kids strive for excellence. They are excited to learn and move up in the world.
Our class enjoys a good read aloud and is requesting twenty copies of The Hatchet so we can enjoy it as a group. A book like this can pull you in to the story and make you part of its triumph. I want my students to experience that and learn from it. Our classroom's discussion would come alive.
A great book can be a stepping stone for these young scholars.
They can become more descriptive in their own writing. Our nation's new Common Core curriculum is focused on these kids' future and I want them to get all the necessary tools they need to succeed!
