Cultivating a love for reading in young children sets up a sturdy foundation of lifetime learning. It allows for them to develop language, receptive skills, cognitive development and more. Having a large selection of books for students to explore will allow for them to learn about new things, find new interest, and explore subjects they already enjoy.
Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum (ELLC) is what my school follows to allow students to begin their foundation for oral language and literacy.
We use play based learning to cover all developmental domains in multiple ways. One of the centers recommended by ELLC is literacy, which can focus on books, letters, sounds, and more.
I believe that children can never have to many books to access. It allows their imagination to grow, they learn new things, explore different cultures and traditions, and so much more. I would be so grateful for any donation that comes my way and I know my current and future students as well.
