Books For Children

My students need books in their homes! I want to give each of my students 2 Dr. Seuss books to take home for their own.

My Students

My students are from a very low income area. Over 80% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches. More than half of our students are limited in English proficiency. Our kids struggle with a long list of traumas in their young lives including domestic abuse, homelessness, and various other stressers.

Despite their hardships, these kids are full of potential and heart.

They give their best everyday. They show great enthusiasm for day to day experiences and have wonderful attitudes.

My Project

I want to get books into the hands of my students. Every year we celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday in March. It's called Read Across America and it helps bring learning to life. I would like some Dr. Seuss books for my classroom library. We will use these books to read as a class and anchor fun and exciting activities that foster literacy. My students live in a very low income neighborhood. Many of them rarely have the necessities of life. Books are considered luxuries, and most of my kids don't have one book in their home that is for them. Please help me make a difference in these children's lives by making reading a festive and exciting activity and providing them with the tools they need to be successful.
