The ability and desire to read is crucial to lifelong success and a one way ticket out of poverty. Many of my students qualify for free lunches. Most of my students struggle with childhood traumas included, drug abuse, physical violence, and homelessness. Despite these challenges, our students are the most determined and focused kiddos you will ever see. 'Read Across America' is a fun celebration which highlights Dr. Seuss books and encourages children to fall in love with reading. As a first grade we would like to use these books to read to the kids and anchor engaging activities for them. MANY of our kids do not have any books at home. I would like to provide each of them with their very own Dr. Seuss book. Please help me make a difference in the lives of these incredible children.
