This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help students get invested in being environmental activists by introducing them to the environmental injustices that are occurring all over the world.

My students live in a high poverty region of Oklahoma.

Many have never left the city. "Field Notes From a Catastrophe" will be their ticket to explore the effects of global warming on communities all over the world. Through this book, students will be able to see the real impact our actions have on people and their environment. The Environmental Science textbooks at our school are ancient and outdated. My students need books that offer the latest information and data on how climate change is both caused by and negatively impacting people all over the world.

My Project

My students need a class set of the book "Field Notes From a Catastrophe" in order to examine the effects of global warming on our planet. Global warming is not a problem that we must face in the future. It has already caused serious problems for our planet's people and environment. Through the book we will be exploring how warmer temperatures are causing glaciers to melt, species to become extinct, and people to relocate their homes.

This book will help my students understand the extreme effects global warming is already having on our planet.

Not only does the book provide up-to-date information and data on climate change, but it also contains high-interest stories of how rising temperatures are harming humans and our environment. I believe this resource will get my students invested in becoming activists in the environmental movement.
