Books for Beginners in Spanish

My students need leveled readers such as Spanish Emergent Readers for younger students, and easy chapter books on high interest topics such as El Capibara con botas.

My Students

We are a rural K-8 school in Maine with approximately 140 students. Being small, it feels like we are part of a big family. All students know everyone in the school. Big kids help out little kids, and adults enjoy seeing students grow and progress from kindergarten through eighth grade.

My students are very eager to speak and learn Spanish.

Since we live in a culturally homogeneous state, it is up to the teacher to provide most input in Spanish.

My Project

A variety of exciting books such as El escape cubano, Isabela captura un congo, Agentes secretos y el mural de Picasso, or Tumba mixed with very easy leveled readers such as the set of Emergent Readers to assure that all students can find something they like at their appropriate reading level.

Students expand fluency, vocabulary, and enthusiasm in language by having free time for reading books at their level.

This requires a lot of books! Not having my own Spanish classroom, it would be wonderful to build a collection large enough to rotate interesting books from one classroom to another.
