Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our fifth graders, are leaders in and out of the classroom. They set great examples for the littles in our school. They are respectful, responsible, and accountable! They are not only helping themselves succeed, but synergize in order to help themselves and classmates excel in fifth grade.
Our students love to challenge themselves, especially when it comes to reading!
They are excited to begin new books, on their own and as a class! Each semester, students create their own goal and a class goal that focuses on how many words they can read. We are currently at the goal of 6,000,000 and are more than half way there! They are hard working and motivated each and everyday!
My Project
As a class, we read multiple books together. We do not have any class sets of books, thus students just follow along by listening, PDFs, or we place chapters into Google slides. Having these class sets will make it possible for students to each have a printed book of their own to read! With the current pandemic students are often left only viewing materials through their Chromebooks. We believe having printed books will have students engaged much more and will help them retain the information longer.
Having this set of books will also help our students reach their personal and class reading goals!
We are currently at the goal of 6,000,000 and are very close to reaching it. Once this goal is met, students will create a new and larger goal for themselves and the class!
