Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our campus is the feeder school for all of our dual-language kids in the district. We have a huge population of students whose first language is Spanish! However, unfortunately, our school library does not house an adequate Spanish section for these young minds.

Reading is so important to ALL students, including those who speak a different language!

Having taught ELA for seven years before making the switch to math, I understand the importance of building a love of reading in students.

This project will allow me to provide fiction books in Spanish for my English-as-a-Second-Language students to be able to enjoy and relate to in their language. Adding this collection to our classroom library will open doors for students that are otherwise closed.
