My Students

I teach in a Spanish immersion program. My students are learning math, science, and social studies all in Spanish. They have been learning Spanish since kindergarten and are growing each day in the language.

They come to school ready to learn and engage in authentic experiences.

They are bright, hard workers, and resilient. They love to read and learn about other cultures. Recently, we have learned about different influential Hispanics and different countries. They are eager to get their hands on new, exciting information.

My Project

Learning a language is all about understandable, quality input. I want to help my students grow in their reading and Spanish skills by providing them with high interest, comprehensible chapter books.

My students will be so excited to read their first chapter book completely in Spanish.

They need access to more books to not only help their Spanish, but the reading skills transfer over to English as well. Research shows that bilinguals are better at multitasking, problem solving, and perform a grade ahead in reading by 8th grade. Help me empower these students to be more successful and encourage their love of reading, in any language.
