My Project

I work with older students who are struggling or early readers. During class sessions, we utilize various phonics programs to build word recognition skills, but nothing makes them feel more like a confident reader than holding a good book!

I want my students to not only learn to read, but fall in LOVE with reading!

This can happen if they are able to check out a book from my classroom library. Though this sounds like an easy task, the books in my library must be chosen carefully. Although my students are older, their reading levels are slowing creeping up to where they should be. Books need to be not only on their level and aligned with the skills they are mastering, but appealing to their interest as well. These decodeable novels will allow them to continue working on developing their reading skills, without feeling like they need to hide the books they are reading.
