My Students

From curious preschoolers to kind sixth graders, I am lucky to work with students at an amazing school. My role in Speech and Language means I bring books and imagination to tell and retell stories working on each student's goals including language and grammar, using devices to fill in communication gaps and even articulation which means sticking out our tongues to get that /th/ mastered! My hope is to have materials supporting deeper learning and a love of reading.

Many of my students have challenges at home making any extra love and support even more important and appreciated.

My Project

Books take us on a journey and do so much more - rhyming words teach spelling and word segmenting, the emotions of characters help solve problems and understand feelings. The Snowy Day Storytelling Kit from Lakeshore and similar book kits provide visual support needed for deeper understanding. I work with kids from preschool through sixth grade who have speech and communication needs with articulation, grammar, expressing emotions, understanding social situations and underneath it all my goal is to create a love of words, stories, reading and a world full of good communicators.
