My school is located in a small and somewhat isolated community in Maine. We are a Title I school with a strong focus on reading and math. Over 60% of our students receive free lunch.
The teachers at our school truly love and care about each student who comes through our doors, and we are proud of the kind, caring and supportive climate we cultivate with our kids.
After spending almost every day with our students, a class becomes more like a family.
My Project
Books, books, and more books! That is what my kids need. Studies show that students need two things to improve their reading ability: 1. time to read and 2. great, high-interest material to choose from. This project aims to do both! I give my students 20 minutes every day to read whatever they want.
The titles in this project will help give my kids new reading materials.
I teach grades 5 through 8, so kids who are in 8th grade now have been picking from my library for over 3 years. It is so important to keep adding to the library in order to keep kids coming back for more! In addition, this project contains a request for a pack of book boxes that will help keep the shelves organized and the books in great shape for students to enjoy for years to come.
